The town of Siem Reap is the tourist hub and starting point for the Angkor Archeaological Park. Today, Siem Reap is bustling with the building of new hotels, refurbishment of its infrastructure and the construction of the new museum to house the sculptures, statues and carved motifs from the Angkor Wat Complex.

Close to the town, is the Angkor Wat Temple Complex. The complex houses many majestic temples and over another 100 ruins dotted around the lanscape. The most famous of these temples are Angkor Wat (with its five towers), the Bayon (with its 54 towers of four faces), the Baphuon, Ta Prohm, the Elephant Terrace, and the Terrace of the Leper King. Outlying temples that are worth a visit are the Banteay Srei (25 km north) and Kbal Spean (carvings in the river bed).

Get lost in the forest and you will experience living in the past century. Be awed by the beauty of the temples as the sun rises (5.30 am) behind it and experience the calmness as you watch the sun set (6 pm) in the nearby lake.

Go to Siem Reap before it gets closed to public in 2010. This is not correct, as the Cambodian Government would lose a major source of revenue.
