The Coco Reef Hotel Staff were very friendly and helpful. In fact the staff made the holiday ,without the humour and politeness of the hotel staff this holiday would have been a complete disaster instead of a bad mistake. I cannot praise the staff enough everyone was eager and willing to help. Any problems were sorted out quickly. Breakfast menu was always good plenty of fruits and cereals plus good choice of cooked meals.
The food although good was repetitive. The vegetables served at dinner were beans and carrots this did not change for the whole 2 weeks every meal. At lunch it was chicken or fish even on barbecue days it was the same. The hotel was clean and comfortable decor was a little tired and would benefit from a face lift. Pool was small and was not cleaned for the time we were there ,water level was low and the water was very murky due to the filters not operating properly. The hotel was recommended for Couples and Singles by Thompson Brochure, this is far from the truth the hotel was full of children from infants to teenagers so if you require a peaceful quite relaxing holiday resort this is not the hotel for you. Although the hotel does not offer activities as such for children this does not detract them for taking over the pool with unruly behavior despite pool rules being displayed as regards to diving/jumping into pool not being allowed this was totally disregarded and was a constant competition all day to see who could make the biggest splash and try to empty the pool the quickest, no-one stopped this activity or suggested they use the beach which was perfect for these activities as the bay was shallow and perfectly safe for kids to bath and splash about in. If parents took more responsibility for their children’s behavior they would not have made it so unpleasant for other holidaymakers seeking a relaxing holiday. More needs to be done to warrant a 4+ Star rating I would suggest 3+ at best. This is more of a Family Friendly Hotel and I would not recommend it for Couples or Singles looking for a relaxing holiday.
Although the Hotel Staff were wonderful I feel that it was not enough to persuade me to visit this Hotel again. Updating is badly needed and more attention paid to the pool area is vital it was so bad some days that you were put off by going into it. Menu needs to be more varied especially the choice of veggies and salads, which never changed. This hotel has one great asset and that is the staff without them I would give this place the thumbs down it’s a pity that there are not more good things to say about the hotel itself.
